Life Through Death

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

John 3:16

Artist Statement
This scene fascinates me.  It is a pivotal place in the history of mankind.  Without Jesus' death on the cross there would be no resurrection.  Without His resurrection, our hope in Him would be in vain. The message I wanted to convey is that the cross, and the death it symbolizes, was not strong enough to keep Jesus in the grave.  That's why the cross is not on the ground but rather in the sky. I use this imagery often in my paintings.
