"God
continues to amaze
me. I just want to
share that amazement
with others." |
Alan Belcher was born in Columbia,
South Carolina. His father was a career military officer with the United States Army, and
as a child he traveled extensively with his family around the United States and Europe. He
graduated from high school in Heidelberg, Germany and has a degree in Commercial Art from
the Dallas Art Institute. He currently lives in San Antonio, Texas with his wife Barbara.
Alan has been drawing and
painting since he was a child and has been painting Christian artwork since 1986. In his
teen years he was heavily influenced by fantasy art, most particularly the works of Roger
Dean. "Roger Dean's artwork took me to places I found very fascinating."
His artistic interests include
surrealism, expressionism, and landscapes. It is the blending of these three that best
describes his own artistic accomplishments. He enjoys working with acrylics, watercolor,
and most recently computer illustration and multi-media work - such as airbrushing and
etching on aluminum panels.
As a Christian, Alan believes
God gave him his artistic ability and he desires to give glory back to God. He wants to
create pieces that cause others to ponder the awesomeness of God and that help reveal His
loving plan for mankind.
